Get your firewood straight off the farm or from locals who have had tree's felled. Straight from the source with no middle man savings may be had. 

Things to consider include is the wood sold by the ton or cubic meter, is the wood pre-cut, green or dry and a suitable species? Some wood is known to burn long and hot, such as redwood whilst pine may build up in your chimney or flue. Some farmers might even save them time and money by harvesting the wood yourself.
